The Harvard apartment project is located in Los Angeles’ Koreatown neighborhood, a vibrant area with an incomparable dynamism. This project aims to house 11 units, serving for the rapidly growing population in the area. While densification was necessary for the client’s request, PQNK looked for a way to provide as many amenities as the residents can have. To meet this challenge, we went through exacting feasibility studies and diligent discussions with the client and the consultants.
The result of the path towards an effective solution is a 3-story residential building sitting over 1-story residential/parking building with a subterranean parking level – the project’s small 9,010 square feet lot usually fits only a house. Because the environs are traditional houses and old apartments, the contemporary exterior design that does not distort the surrounding area is applied to attain balanced aspect.
